yes i am serious. does anyone know of one or similar as i would like to learn to knit.

Not 100% sure, but if you get in touch with the Country Womens Assn of Westrn Australia http://www.cwaofwa.asn.au/, they might be able to put you on the right track. The Queensland counterpart QCWA, routinely hold classes in knitting, art and crafts etc, so they may have a similar program.
I know it's sad a bloke knows about this, but when you have mother and grandmother that were members for years, things just rub off.

my mums a brilliant knitter and my gran does crochet. i was more intrested in the xmas gin than listening to them 2, kind of regret it now, the listening not the gin
