THAT'S IT - I've lost the will to live

245 boxes/ items arrived this morning. 158 checked by customs - all clear. 100 unpacked and i can now say i have lost the will to live. House looks like a s.... Hole, don't seem to be getting anywhere fast, and surrounded by empty boxes and paper.

Freezer section of double fridge and washer covered in mould (insured for that) big scratch on Glass Table(dining room) and one of Kitchen chairs broken, oh and one unpacker having tetanus as ramp fell and gashed leg, AND I STILL CAN'T FIND ALL MY SHOES AND UNDIES :curse:. And OH called to ask if i'd checked his golf clubs !!! You can imagine my response

Desperately need some devine inspiration.

Hang in there you will get there in the end! just shove the paper in the empty boxes and stack them outside preferably making it ruddy difficult for DH to get in the door so he gets a taste of what you have been faced with all day:rofl:

unpack one and put it all away do not unpack any more until that 1 box is dealt with you have done most of it:thumbsup:

make sure DH comes home with wine and pizza:rofl:

Tell OH you've hidden his golf clubs and will tell him where they are when he unpacks (fully) the remainder of your boxes!!!!!! That should work!

Re: THAT'S IT - I've lost the will to live

we got ours monday only 22 boxes mind and it took me bloody ages so i feel for you, and like you say the house looks a mess , i had only just finished cleaning it all when they came , wish i hadnt bothered , a tip for you though i put all the paper back into the boxes taped them all back up and put them into the garage, so now when we move i have the boxes ready and i must admit crown offered to unpack but it felt like xmas to me so i said no, then they said if i wanted the rubbish removing they can come back for it, but like i say id sooner save the boxes as we are in a rental and will be moving at some point. hope you get sorted soon , and sorry to hear about your damages

Hi Jane, Its great that you have all your stuff but yes its a bummer to unpack everything. I would agree with the other poster, try to stick to one box at a time or at least one room at a time putting everything away before you go onto the next it does make things al little easier. We flattend all our boxes and put them in the garage ready to use again.
I would find the box with your OH clubs in and put it right underneath all the others and tell him to start unpacking:rofl: naughty I know but hey ho. And it is weird what you find in some of the boxes, totally nothing to do with what it says on them.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Look on the bright side of this...

You have all your boxes.
You injured one of the removal men that damaged your table.
You are in Australia.

The flip side could easily have been....

Customs kept your boxes
You didnt injure one of the removal men that damaged your table
Your in the UK.

Good luck with the unpacking.
We have just opened boxes that we put in the loft 4 years ago when we moved into this house..

we opened them, shut them, and took them to the charity shop. :D

Well done on getting there.

I would leave the unpacking to your other half, run out quickly and buy some new shoes. You have the perfect excuse as you cant find your old ones. This attitude could be why I am single:rofl:

Good luck with everything:thumbsup:

Don't know what's worse, packing or unpacking...either way, you'll get through it eventually.

PMSL.:lol::rofl: Good one Nickie.

I hope your box trauma will end soon Jane.

You may be horrified to know that we have been carting around a box with us that was packed in 1988 and has so far been moved 7 times without ever being opened. OH says he going to take it to the tip without opening it rather than let it go in that container...

20 years & 7 moves... that's fantastic! That may be a record.

Karma for that I think! :D
