Thanks BE!
PR granted today, 6 years after we started this journey!
I just want to say a big thanks to BE - been on & off this site for more than 3 years now and I've founded it really helpful & interesting. I'll still be back - I do a search for Coffs periodically to see if anyone wants any info, & also weigh in on / start the odd discussion / arguement now & then :p Good luck to anyone who is still waiting & happy new year to all :) |

Can I ask how long it took you between application after the 475/457 and PR grant?

It's 475 regional sponsored to 887 regional permanent (I think is called) and we applied 30th Nov, granted today. Would have been within 4 weeks had it not been for our case officer going on hols 23rd Dec until today (how dare they vacation! lol)

Do you have to live regionally on the 887? Sheeeit!!! We are waiting to apply to move from a 475 to PR and I will be mighty pissed off if we have to live regionally still - is that in the same state?

<massive sigh of relief> Thanks newjersey. |

Re: Thanks BE!
Thanks for all the wishes & congrats, also to those who sent Karma :) It is sinking in a bit now. I've also been to Centrelink to find out about how to get child benefit. I said we "recently" got PR. I thought I better not say "we got PR 45 minutes ago and here I am" :p

We understood that we have to live here for 4 years before we can apply for citizenship, altho haven't really looked into it properly as all focus has been on achieving PR! Is it only 3 years? I don't like not being able to vote! Not that there are great choices but it would be nice to know I at least have a voice :) |

No, it's still 4 years. Because you mentioned you started the journey 6 years ago, I assumed you'd been here for that long. My mistake. If you've only been here 2 years, then you still have to wait 2 more. :(
