If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you would have produced
enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.
(Hardly seems worth it.)
If you farted consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is
produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb.
(Now that's more like it!)
The human heart creates enough pressure when it pumps out to the body to
squirt blood 30 feet.
(O.M.G.!)
The flea can jump 350 times its body length. It's like a human jumping
the length of a football field.
The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds.
(What could be so tasty on the bottom of a pond?)
Some lions mate more than 50 times a day.
(Thats why we dont here from Bixie very ofter)
Butterflies taste with their feet.
(Something I always wanted to know.)
Right-handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left-handed
people.
(If you're ambidextrous, do you split the difference?)
Elephants are the only animals that cannot jump.
(okay, so that would be a good thing)
A cat's urine glows under a black light.
(I wonder who was paid to figure that out?)
An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain.
(I know some people like that.)
Starfish have no brains
(I know some people like that too.)
Polar bears are left-handed.
(If they switch, they'll live a lot longer)
Humans and dolphins are the only species that have sex for pleasure.
(Oh so its ment to be a pleasure)

UK roads are now safer than they were in 1980...
Fatality rates per billion km travelled by car fell from 6.2 (1980) to 2.7 (2004). 5,953 died on the road in 1980 & 3,221 in 2004.
Wouldn't have thought that...!

Continents do not end at shorelines but are more usually defined by the extent of the continental shelf, which often sits some distance out into the sea or ocean. The UK is most certainly part of the continent of Europe, as Tasmania is part of the Continent of Australia (or Australasia, not getting into that argument).
Then of course there is the possibly more important definition which is the cultural one; the UK is part of Europe because the majority say it is.

Yes, statistically speaking, there's a 1 in 4 million chance of bumping into someone you recognize whilst in Sydney for the weekend.

A lack of familiarity with geographical minutiae does not make me "a bit dim".
BTW, "you're" has an apostrophe and an "e" at the end.
Thanks for the geography lesson. Point taken; now I know better.
I would say that is the less important definition.
If the majority believed that the UK is part of Sweden, would that make it so?
