Default Telephone connection and broadband - help please

Can anyone help me??

I move into a rental property on Saturday and would like to arrange for a phone connection and broadband.

Can you please shed any light on this for me as I don't know where to start! I know there has been a phone connected there previously so that wont be a problem.

Thanks

Clare

If your property has already had a telephone line connected, all you need to do is contact your chosen telephone provider and request the line be transferred to your name. There will be a cost involved, and Telstra, as an example, currently quote $59 (Nov 2008)

http://www.telstra.com.au/movinghome/newcustomer.cfm

I am not saying however, that Telstra is best.

Beware signing up anything with a long contract otherwise it large exit fees.

Money to connect, money to exit.. the Aussie way.

iinet does both, no contract but exit fees for the first 6 months I think

I'd also recommend iinet (based on my experiences). I found it was pretty easy to get set up - gave them the address (we couldn't trace any previous number) and they sorted it all in a few days.

Cheers
