Default Technical help

For some reason I can't seem to drag anything around my desktop to either move put into a new folder or recycle.

Hmm thats weird. Have u a firewall and antivirus working? If so check for viruses, if you have windows ME or XP I'd suggest doing a system restore. If you have Norton windoctor then try that first as it may be a registry issue.

If earlier than ME try to fix it from command prompt: C/:reg/restore (I think that's it but not 100% sure as I have had XP for so long now)

Good Luck

Could also be a mouse problem. Maybe check device manager (under system in control panel) for any conflicts

I've tried a system restore nothing.

I've also run a virus check nothing there, although it won't let me update it and says the file I'm trying to download is broken.

The mouse is fine as is the touch pad.

Right click on the desktop and under the 'Arrange icons by' menu, see if 'Auto Arrange' and/or 'Align to Grid' are checked.

Worst case scenario: You might have to save all ur data to cd rom and do an uninstall followed by a new reinstall of your OS. Hope its not that bad as they r a pain in the arse to do

Oh - and I don't know how you'd turn it off accidentally but ...

Right click on the Taskbar, select Properties > Start Menu tab > Customize > Advanced > Enable dragging and dropping - make sure that's ticked
