Sydney Trip - Tolls and Trains (Warning: Photos)

We ended up crossing the Harbour Bridge about 4 times more than we meant to. It has a way of sucking you over from the inner suburbs of the north shore.

I really couldn't begrudge the toll as I enjoyed it every time even if I didn't know what lane I should be in :)

The Sydney Travel pass is great value and regardless of what people who live there think about peak hour commuting the trains are great for a tourist.

We bought a MyMulti1 weekly ticket that covered all modes of transport out into the inner suburbs:

My little fella loved travelling on the top floor of the trains so we had a lot of chats while mum looked after little sister and the stroller downstairs.

Must run in the genes as I always insisted on riding on the top floor of the double deckers in the UK!!

May I show you some photos I took - from one position - on our last Sydney train journey?

Shows why we don't use them very often....

Sydney city trains are vile; I had culture shock when we first moved from Singapore.

I'm thinking of taking a daytrip up to Katoomba by train soon - are those ones any better? (And do they have toilets? It's a long way! )

Of course you may :D We got a few old one's but none anywhere near that bad  Though we were on the north shore line so maybe they discriminate with their new rolling stock :) Overall ours were quite comfy and convenient for a tourist. I was impressed.

I think every single one we've ever taken from Campbelltown has been as bad or worse. At least this one had no blood and vomit on the walls.

Graffiti I can cope with. It's the ever present sticky substances on the seats and floors that worry me.

Where's Campbelltown?...is that out in those scary Sydney "western suburbs" I keep hearing about  I wonder if they really do discriminate and give the battler areas the crap trains.

That particular trip I stood the whole way - empty train - except for the yobs - but I wouldn't want to sit on the seats in case the paint etc wasn't yet dry.

You wonder what sort of creatures inhabit the place, and how it just seems to be accepted as "normal'.
