the best bits for me are the sunrises and sunsets, the noise the magpies make over here when they're singing, the stars in the sky, vast blue skies, being able to sit out on the balmy summer evenings and eat dinner, have a glass of wine or just read (as long as you've got your mozzie spray on )

clean streets, lots of parks, sitting out on the deck at night in tshirt and shorts, the outdoorsy lifestyle that we now take for granted, living in a city but still in a leafy family friendly area that's not too far away from the action, looking over the brisbane skyline at night (sigh), the feeling of safety, the australian accent - ok, i lied about that last one!

Unexpected things? Hmmm, I kind of expected the stuff I now love ... the space, the stars, the relative feeling of security, etc, etc (they are big etceteras mind). Oh yeh, and marriage and fatherhood OBviously...

But one thing I didn't plan on doing was playing cricket every fortnight throughout summer AND winter. I met the club captain soon after I met my wife during her 3 month jaunt around Europe and am coming up for my 6th season (I think) ... still not getting any better ...

I tell ya, some of the days out there have to be experienced to be appreciated ... despite the ever-present risk of injury and humiliation.

Its always funny to see them hang upside down sometimes too.

Having wildlife in the back garden. Hand feeding the possum and birds. Seeing the poor lorikeets hanging upside down under the verandah after last weeks storms. Having barbacues whenever I want without having to worry about the weather
Going to work everyday with Cresta!!!!!

Ok so I lied about the last one

No lockers in leisure centres!! I felt sooooo uncomfortable leaving my belongings on a chair the very first time we went!! Even the bloody lockers get robbed in the UK!!

The kindness of australians, always happy to help. Teenagers saying G'day instead of gobbing in your face!

God, i could go on and on.

The biggest one for us is the sun shining everyday, sure does put a smile on your face in the mornings.
