I guess it is primarily a Brit thing then & probably just comes down to what you are used to!

You want to break eggs over the head of a young girl on $8/hour trying to do you a good turn. Perhaps you want to get a grip of yourself !

Perhaps she/he want to break eggs over YOUR head. I think I've just realised why I dont work in Customer Service.

It drove me batty until I devised my own system. I put a bag on the conveyor followed by the items I want in that bag. Then another bag followed by the items for that bag and so on. I just tell the girl/guy/prepubescant person on the till that's what I've done and if they put the wrong things in the bag I ask them to take them out

Here in SA it is illegal for the shops to use plastic bags and everyone uses cloth bags. I imagine this will be adopted by other states.

Can't argue with that, I married to a nurse.

Indeed they can moan, but as I say, an Aussie moaner is at best amateurish.

Lighten up mate! It's not a subject or thread that is meant to be taken too seriously & there is such a thing as poetic licence!

But in my (dream)world of being waited on, I wouldn't be in the supermarket in the first place!!!

I just realised that I can't move back to the UK ever, as I would have to pack my own supermarket bags LOL I do hate it when they put raw meat in with fruit and veggies though.

I think Coles and Wollies should lead the way and provide the customers with biodegradble bags.
UK is the only place I've been that doesn't do this - even then I can remember it happening there too.

MartinLuther is an unknown quantity at this point

It's odd what happens in other states. For the most part , in our local stores, they keep the eggs to put on top. Bread as well. They ask if you want the meat in a separate bag and they keep the cold stuff together. They are quite swift as well. You occasionally get one that uses too many bags. But if this is a real worry why not supply them with the reusable bags.
