Default Summer - who nicked it?

Ahhhh... lazy Australian Summer days. Relaxing by the pool, or just lounging in the shade and hiding from the heat of the day. Well not this year.

Just heard on the local radio, that, in the 41 days so far this year, 38 of them have been wet. It's raining now.

2011 was the wettest year on record, beating 2010, which was previously the wettest year on record.

Coldest December in Sydney since 1960 and mercury didn't touch 30 centigrade for the summer until quite recently

It's awful to say it but I think many people (not farmers) grew used to the drought conditions which prevailed for much of the last 15 years and now miss them

Watching the flooding at Londonderry this morning, I'm glad I live half way up a big hill.

THE RAIN IS NOT MY FAULT. Honest.

I just want to make that clear.

Ah there's a blast from the past. Fond memories of seeing Travis performing this very same tune years ago at 'T in the park' in a muddy field whilst it was absolutely bucketing down. The rain didnt put a dampener on our spirits tho. All jumping up and down like muddy pissed-up maniacs. Classy.

Us farmers, we arrived in 2006, shocking year due to the drought but I'll be honest the wet years we've had since, I've often joked that I'd like a few less rainy days.

It's been a shocker of a summer, our onions crops have really struggled so I apologise in advance if your onions don't look as good as they should, it's because it hasn't been hot enough at the right times!

I'm enjoying summer in Melbourne at the moment - low-mid 20s through to next Wednesday! Much more pleasant than 30+

I'm with mouse, would much rather be cool than hot, but you can keep the rain.

I can honestly say that this summer so far we've had no more than about ten days where we've seen the sun, even briefly.

Central heating on yesterday! Haven't eaten on the patio once.

Low cloud, drizzle - typical La Nina year in the East of NSW.

Loving the weather right now. It's been a perfect start to February. We even had rain today!
