Kuta is like the Australian Blackpool, before the Costa Del Sol took over. As someone pointed out, it could be the Australian Ibiza, but it isn’t. Lots of families, surfers, fast food, cheap bars, zero class and style. Very commercial, and hawkers accost you every few seconds. The next area up is Legian, far nicer, and then Seminyak which still has some style and class. (Also has a lot of gay bars and “banci†transvestites who look amazingly like girls). You can walk on the beach from Kuta to Seminyak in 25 minutes. |

Where about in Oz are you heading? If Perth, get here and have a long weekend in Bali. It is only 3 hours from here.

Beware that there is an outbreak of rabies there at the moment and vaccine is in short supply. If you are bitten you need to fly out at short notice, so make sure you have good medical cover.

Re: Stopover in Bali anyone?
We had stops in Bali & Singapore en route to Aus when we came over. I booked flights sepeartely as it worked out cheaper. We flew from London to Bali via Singapore with Singapore airlines. We stayed a week in Kuta then flew to Singapore (again with Singapore air,) where we stayed for 3 days. We then had flights with Qantas to Aus.
I am really glad that we did it as we were exhausted & really benefitted from the rest in Bali.:) |
