Yes, heard of Harp, just another Lager wasnt it ? albeit a supposed Irish one. Never heard of Slalom D.
on the topics of Local beers, saw something at my local bottle shop today, that I've never heard of before, and am now itching to try. Tooheys Dry Platinum. 6.5 pct apparently. Anyone had any, and what did you think ?

Just 5 years ago, I would not have been able to get very many of my local Aussie freinds to try anything but CuB beer. Nowadays most will at least have a try at something different. The whole culture of beer drinking in this country is in flux at the moment, and that is a beautiful thing.

Places like Liquor Savers are flying the flag of genuine imported beers - Speckled Hen is available, 'real' Newcastle Brown Ale in pint and half pint bottles - although I'd have thought it was actually illegal to buy it in halves and quite a few of the European 'Boutique' beers, all genuine imports. Draught Guiness here is palatable, providing you have someone who knows how to look after it - I find the imported cans do have the edge. James Squires Amber Ale is a cheeky little number for those of you who like proper beer as opposed to lager - why does almost everyone now refer to lager as 'Beer'? - two totally different things. There are some good Aussie beers and they deserve a hearty amount of drinking, but I'm afraid I have to agree that 'Imported Beers' should be just that - the genuine article imported.
