Spider with a scary face!! Aargh! What is it?**BEWARE - PHOTOS**
Does anyone know what type of spider this is?
It is about the size of a middle finger nail and has the most scary face appearance on its back and two stingery-looking things at its rear end.
This must have come in with the laundry yesterday as I found it on the kids pillowcase as I was making the bed last night.

Looks similar to a spiny orb-weaver/spiny-backed orb weaver?
Not sure, either way I feel like I have to wash my hands now!!

I have sent the picture off to the DPI to see if anyone there can identify it. If that fails, I shall track down a well-known spider expert (who I think is based at a uni somewhere, at least he used to be) and I will email the pic to him.
I've just got to know what kind of spider can be so horrid looking.
That'd be my luck... I hate spiders and my contribution to the World may be to have a horrid spider named after me.

Ew. At first I thought you photoshopped the face on the back. LOL.
I guess it's a cautionary tale for us all to really shake that laundry before we bring it in. The worst thing we've had on ours is one of those friggin' gigantic prehistoric moths (you know, the ones the size of a bird). One was on the towels and then flew around the inside of the house while the kids ducked under the table and screamed. Nice way to spend the evening.
Hope you get some answers re: the spider. That's the weirdest one I've seen (*knock on wood*). Now that I've said that, one that looks like its wearing a clown face, stripy stockings, and a gold tiara will show up.

That spider is arse about face ..so to speak.... Took me AGES to work out which way round was the front and which was the back.... Obviously a spider with good self preservation instincts.... Anyone looking at it would think its arse was its face!!!!
