Re: Spare time pursuits...
Just moved into a new house full of recently delivered flat pack furniture, so my weekend will be spent trying to put it together (or supplying beer to Alfresco as he and my son try).

Re: Spare time pursuits...
Today Gardening.... Sorting out my Tomatoes, got a lot of different varities, oh and my Chillies have started... I managed to get 2 Carolina reapers to germinate, and have heaps of different varities of Trinidad Scorpians going, and a couple of Bhuk Jolikia (Ghost peppers) I'm now in the realm of trying to create my own varietiy of super hot chillies. I'm going to go backwards on the Scoville scale with this and use easy growing Cayenne to cross the super hot varieties with in an effort produce very hot but prolific growing Cayenne, which if I get right will be simple to grow in a far wider climate range.... Thats a 3 year project though....maybe even 5. Looking forwards to getting down and dirty with my Worm Farms and Compost.
My straw bale garden was an abject failure... I think the straw must have been treated with something, which is very naughty. I'll give one bale of Lucerne a go next year before I bin it as a growing medium. |
Re: Spare time pursuits...
Today some yardwork to help recover from the typically annoying Aussie flu that I've had since Tuesday.
If fitness and rain permits tomorrow I'm off to Ferny Grove to play cricket. A glamour fixture .... |

I gave up on growing vegetables in Queensland as all I seemed to be doing was feeding the wildlife and bugs....did manage a lot gf good peppers though. |

Re: Spare time pursuits...
I had my first riding lesson today. Starting, braking and hill starts. Then out for breakfast by the ocean and home to bake scones. I think we're meeting friends this afternoon for drinks but not sure yet.

Well the weekends are just extensions of my week as far as pursuits go but I get more recovery time. This weekend:
Sat 6am. 3km of drill sets at the pool. 9am ( we start earlier in BST) 50 mile mixed pace ride, fairly hilly. Lunch with family. Afternoon take daughter put for play in the park/walk whilst Mrst TB relaxes. ( puddle suits are gifts from the gods:lol: ) Late afternoon would normally be run drills at the track but recent surgery has not allowed that, so probably clean the winter bike followed by a session of core work. Evening just playing with daughter, giving her dinner. Night: some TV or guitar playing. Sun. Alternate Sunday's are either 80 mile hard chain gang ride with racing club or an early run followed by taking daughter to Water Babies ( Mrs TB does this when I don't race/ride). Family lunch. Daughter sleeps, I hit the pool. Sunday afternoon, family walk. Sunday evening, turbo sets in winter ( recovery sets) or LSD run in summer. Every 4th week is a breakdown weekend so much lighter on sport and heavier on family. Saturday was shopping, visiting mum in care home, 5 mile walk to Knitting group, catch up with all the programs I've missed while holidaying in Aus this month. Sunday 7 mile walk, do the veggies for roast lunch, veg out (most probably!) and knock the jet lag on the head once and for all. |
Re: Spare time pursuits...
Saturday, ripped out the rest of the kitchen, took up flooring, going to make this the cheapest kitchen in history, certainly not paying, over expensive, under qualified tradies to do it.
Made a red hot chilli Made a spitfire from Tooheys new cans and finished off a 150 lashes scooter Today - measured up kitchen, had a look on line, had a disagreement with the boss, and had the silent treatment since cos I lost patience with her constant nit picking and told her to shut up..... turning into a perfect Sunday, nice and quiet |
