Default So, what would it take to push YOU over the edge?

Just wondering, what it would take to make YOU loose it? What would/ could push you COMPLETELY over the edge...

Would it be a long series of small things, a few medium ones or ONE GREAT BIG THING that has you blurbling to yerself in a corner (or on an tinternet forum)

How MANY things are there that CAN go wrong? Surely there is a limit to the shite that can happen, surely there is only a certain amount of badluck to go about,

How much can a person take before they end up in a little safe padded cell, surrounded by men in white coats wielding injectable medications to chemically restrain them ?

Lets put it this way, I AINT wasting my money on a lottory ticket this week.

Tho the idea of being sedated right now for my own safety IS quite appealing..

Lots of small things. I keep thinking I'm reaching the point but then manage to deal with it. I have no idea how much more can happen before I lose the plot. It's hard though, when you have kids relying on you, you tend to hang on by your fingertips.

It's easy to get stressed by stuff that in normal circumstances would go by the board, when you on the edge already. If no one's died or dying, it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Says she who can lose the plot at the dumbest things.

Continued stress will do it. Lots of little things and then a problem slams you to the floor. You get up and struggle on, and then another thing knocks you back down. Each time it is harder to get up.

Just heard that my dad is unlikely to recover his sanity, so my sister has to sell the house to pay for specialist care. But it needs renovating before it can be sold, so she will start with his car and posessions. She is feeling so guilty that all the things dad loves are being taken away, even though she knows that he will never be able to use them or live on his own again, or probably even realise they are gone.

Dad is not well off, so how unfair is it that he is forced to pay for being locked up? Doesn't happen to prisoners- they don't have to sell up. After a lifetime of paying taxes, what little he has is being taken.

That sucks Caroline ... it's so unfair, I agree. There used to be a loophole around it when my gran was in a home, that their antique possessions were exempt. Therefore, people used the money to purchase antiques, then the person was assessed at a lower amount of asset. Wonder if it's still the same?

For me, the only thing that really makes me mad is unfairness, plus my continued struggle with my kids father who doesn't want to communicate. Can't be bothered to send me an email saying he can't pay child support this month or that it's going to be late. Blows my finances out of the water and makes their lives very difficult. Anything like that happening to my kids really gets me... but I'm pretty mellow on all the other stuff.

6 months ago I'd say my son, now he's over that phase my daughter has taken it up.
Overall I'd say I'm a lot less volatile now than I was when I lived in Australia.
The UK is more laid back for someone like me.

At the moment it's my kids. The little one is just entering terrible two's and the bigger one is half in/half out of them. I'm over the tantrums, the crying, the whinging, the scratching, the fighting etc etc and all my friends tell me it doesn't get any easier

Im sorry to hear your news Caroline, and i agree - it is grossly unfair when those who have paid taxes and worked hard all of their lives get pushed to the back of the queue when they need help.

I wouldn't agree with your friends. It's just different... the two's and three's were the worst. That's it.

Mine were fine during those years. They've given me far more grief in the mid teens than any other years and all in all they're pretty awesome kids.

I can hardly remember the tantrum/obnoxious years.

I remember my girls were obnoxious in their threes. They didn't find tantruming worked for them because I ignored it totally and they were pretty bright to work out mummy was going to do nothing.
When they were three, they had attitude which was really quite well.. obnoxious, because they had such a good command of language by then.
Now I can't get the eldest out of bed. She's a teen slug.

I'm hoping it will get easier the older they get, surely it must help to be able to communicate and reason with them better... My toddlers are just such hard work sometimes. They're great, beautiful little children but when they're in the throws of a strop or a tantrum I feel like going back to work fulltime!!

The just turned 3 year old has got better over the last few months so I'm hoping we may have turned a corner with him, just the 20 month old to get through this phase now.
