Is 'sniffing ones flem' socially acceptable in Australia or are tissues illegal?

Not only will you experience incredibly juicy sniffing, you will have to get used to stomach-churning hawking and spitting the results in the street.

Not as bad as my experience in Manly. As I sat down quietly to eat my lunch and take in the sea view, I noticed out of the corner of my eye a group of tourists who had decided to half chew their own food and then spit it out for the seaguls to feast on!

Needless to say I didn't eat the rest of my lunch.
