Slab of the Week

Bit of a loss as to what to buy this week.... I'm about to depart for Dan Murphys to stock up. Definitely will be buying some Bombay Sapphire for the Missus... probably some Carrington Brut as it's hard to find anything less than 20 bucks that tastes better to my ever increasing Bogan like tastebuds...

So this week according to the specials Tooheys dry or the oh to familiar Heineken bottles are the go. Both sub 40 bucks.... In fact Tooheys is only 33 bucks this week.

So anyone got any sub 45 buck suggestions ?

BTW has anyone noticed how 1st choice liquor seems to have put a rocket right up Dan Murphys kyber.... If anything 1st choice are winning the battle of the giant booze stores.

So what have you bought this week ?

I'm orf there as soon as the roads lose their rush hour flow.

Dammit should be a barbie thread can you move it please P or M or D ;)

Dan Murphys
$26.70 Carlton Mid Bitter or XXXX Gold 24x375mL Bottles

BWS don't seem to have prices on their website

No thanks...a bit more upmarket beer but still sterilised before it is bottled though.

I only want proper beer with yeast still active in it.

Anyone tried Hummingbird yet? I think its marketed at the ladies and comes in a passionfruit fusion variety!

I havent found it yet!

Also at Dan Murphy's I saw Veuve Cliquot champas for $60 a bottle!!! just saw it at BWS for $99

Funny story thinking of fusion beers - went to the Australian Pub under the SHB and my 11 yo asked for a ginger beer - anyway he got a Bundaberg GB and the bar girl mentioned anoher GB - so later on we ordered that one... Bearing in mind she knew it was for an 11yo... anyway i cant remember the name of it but half way through the GB my son started acting a bit silly - i looked at the bottle, tasted and holy cow it was a full strength bloody fusion beer with ginger!

Well - you know my view - Coopers Green is so good I've drunk it, I've brewed it for years. It lends itself to home-brewing and the results have been outstanding.

I will be bottling a few slabs of Corona tomorrow - in time for Christmas.
I put it on last weekend and it's survived the little heatwave we've had - I think.

Tooheys Extra Dry an old favourite from NSW.

There is something of a little excitement in strolling to a botlte shop in Australia and coming out with a colourful slab....under your arm.

Gin and Tonic also an old favourite.

And both BWS and Dan Murphys are owned by Woolworths, just to make it even more interesting :D

Yes I know... my best friend is a woolies manager and DB is wayyy cheaper than BWS but BWS is 60 seconds away by car and DB is 40 min away by grrrrrrr.. My friend highly recommends the DB cleanskins - had some amazing wines from there for ridiculous prices. I have the BWS Crittenburg rose which is comparable to the Isla Negra Rose in the UK - cheap as hell, fruity, slightly sweet and goes down easily!

Ended up getting Stella.... Ow me 'ead.

The Bombay Sapphire was the cheapest I've ever seen it, so we bought two bottles @ 37.50 Aud.

Loving this booze war between Dans and 1st Choice. Real Champagne has never been cheaper. Great time to stock up for Xmas etc... if it lasts ;)
