The Mandarin is nice or the Stamford. Suggest going to Expedia or last minute and doing a search - much depends on budget and what your after. We only stay in a hotel if the parents come down from KL, otherwise we stay in my sisters place just off orchard road.

We nearly booked a the Stamford the other day but for some reason had second thoughts. We need a room with 2 double beds as we have 3 kids in tow (10, 8 & 2) which I know the Stamford are ok with.
We stayed in the Phoenix last year but wanted to be somewhere different this time.
Will look on Expedia and check out the Mandarin as well.

Have not stayed at the Phoenix, only others were the Shangri La (bit posh and long walk to anywhere), and the one opposite the Mandarin cant remember the name but the rooms were smoky even though we requested non smoking.
Stamford is good location as it sits over the Raffels shopping centre - no need to venture outside apart from the lovely pool.
Depending on who you are flying with you might also get some good deals.
Do you like seafood?

Once we leave Singapore, we are off to Brisbane, to be one of the many hundreds heading to live in Cleveland!
Based upon your recommendation and others I've seen on BE I think we will book the Stamford, just don't understand the different offers on their websites!
Not too keen on seafood but intend to try more once we get to Oz.

Re: Singapore 15th to 18th April
We've just come back from Singapore and KL, so won't be there in April, but for whoever else wants to know more info about Singapore, I used the websites hotel.com.au and asiarooms.com to look at the hotels and reviews (asiarooms have customer reviews for each hotel).
Even if you don't book through those websites they can be very helpful due to the reviews, photos and maps.
We stayed in the Furama (city centre, not Riverfront) and it was a lovely hotel and right near Chinatown and Clarke Quay. After being in KL for 4 nights we came back to The Royal on Queens, our room was a bit run down looking but it was clean, but was in a very good place to wander over to Raffles and the Bugis shopping centre. Both pretty good budget hotels. (About $100 aud per night if you do book from the above websites).
