Yes sadly those top shelf "books" don't make it onto Kindle.

Go to the library and get some real books I say. Nothing better than sneaking some me time in the car with a real book, I spend too much time staring at a screen. I try and get to school half an hour or so before pick up so that I can have some reading time each day.

We've just got two, ready for the flight to the UK in September. Himself and Eldest use them on the train too, both find it much more convenient.

I agree too, that it could never be a replacement for a real book!

I wouldn't get a Kindle (Amazon proprietary format and publishers hate them), but general eInk eReaders are great and about the only way you are going to carry around an entire library in a coat pocket. Perfectly possible to read an entire book on one - with one battery charge.

As regards getting the books you want, you'll find that all usual DRM has been comprehensively cracked, and you can get most books in most formats a few days after release - or do the cracking yourself with freely available tools. One day, maybe, managers in content providing companies will catch up with the realities of the modern world....

But they *do*. For US, UK sale only in most cases. I have seen dozens of books I want and have been blocked on 100% of them.

I have downloaded books to my kindle that were only available in the UK by changing my address to a UK address, downloading the ebook and then changing my address back to an Aus one again. I still paid with my Aus credit card no problem

I tried that, also with the US, but it's still blocked.

Im an Apple guy, so asking out if sheer curiosity. The iPad app for the ebooks is also capable of showing the PDF files. Is there a similar option in Kindle?
