Take Angelina Jolie, for example. Undeniably stunning, but even on the red carpet, flawless make up and designer gown she still looks like she need a good scrub in bleach from all those tatts. Amy Winehouse, say no more.

Have you seen all those 40 + women in shopping centers displaying their ‘art’ on their flabby arms? Not a good look. Old men with ‘Born to be Wild’ etched on their legs while waiting for their arthritis prescription in the chemist. Wild indeed.

My artistic tastes change and develop as I get older. Probably would of got a Micky Mouse tatt in my teens – lovely. :o

I blame Miami Ink.

I'm with you ;)

If you're young, slim & attractive tattoos can be nice, done professionally & in appropriate places! This applies to males & females.
However......we ALL get older, fatter & wrinklier......& then they just don't look great :(
I agree with the fashion thing. Is the band round the arm going to be like having a mullet in 5 years? (I would laugh, as my oh has one!!) And also the chinese dragon tats (he's got one of those too!) - I reckon they will be the next Burberry :sneaky:
Tat free's best I reckon - why do you need it engraved on you? Just have it in your head or tell all :)

I have a Scottish tattoo at the top of my arm and had it done 14 years ago - i always cover it up. I'd never have another one but each to their own and i certainly don't judge someone because they are 40, 50, 60 or whatever and have a tattoo!

Why should we all live under the judgmental cloud of critical ageism assholes

BTW, Tramp Stamps from the 90's are the most popular tattoos that are getting removed by laser surgery these days. Suprised? No.

Don't you just love those horny, spikey 'art works' that every Tom Dick and Harry seem to have these days? Graphics that have been plucked from a tattoo book or a tattoo studio wall with no personal meaning, just because it looks 'cool'. How about all those Celtic arm bands that were in 15 years ago? not so 'cool' now -eh?

OMG ,i love them ,especially on a blokes arm.O how i swoon when i see Shannon, from The Biggest Losers arm.Call me whatever ,but it does something for me:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:And if im happy everyone is happy

Its difficult for me not to put tatoos in the same box as body piercing. Find it all a bit too self-obsessed and narcissistic. Some of it verges on self-abuse / self-harm; tatoos on face, earlobe stretchers are just awful.

I always chuckle to myself when I see people walking around with half a ton of scrap on their faces and sporting a "I am tough so dont mess with me" kind of attitude. Clearly they are too daft to realise just how vulnerable they have made themselves!

Once you start with tatoos and 'unusual' piercings in visible locations, you really are labelling yourself, in both senses of the word. I think the problem I've got with it, is that its irreversible, and it limits the person's ability to change. You can be a rebel at 18, but by 30 you might no longer have those same feelings, unfortunately you're stuck with the external evidence.
