Question Shipping wooden furniture to Sydney

We have been warned buy our shippers that wooden items maybe subject to quarantine inspection and charged for fumigation. Anyone have experience of this? We`ve (reluctantly) offloaded all wicker items bar Llyod Loom stuff..................Want to avoid customs duty etc if poss.

from personal experiances only i can say that they dont like wicker

we recieved an email from grace removals which stated

customs have found a small waste paper sized bin made of wicker in your container
you have the following options
please forward $120 for the required permit
( so you must be able to get this stuff through with the right paperwork ) plus cost for fumigation
( they didnt say how much this element may cost )
or give us your instructions to destroy it at no cost to yourselfs

well only one option to be honest in our case burn it

so i suggest that you get on the customs web site and ask them the question i am sure that you can take it al be it with the correct paperwork and possible fumigation

hope this helps

regards steve
