I've just had good news. We've got an apartment to stay at for the duration - so we should be snug as bugs in a rug and I won't have to busk in the corridor! Perhaps it was the threat of that that made them let us have the use of the apartment  Now we're on to sorting out what we'll take with us and how to store what's left and hope it's all there and dry when we get back!

From a meteorologists point of view, there are some truly stunning images of this sytem, just because he's so huge, but when you translate them into human terms and look at potential damage, injuries etc....terrifying.

I was talking about you this afternoon and your trip up here to play dirty tricks on the Base Hospital. All seems to be working well as my m-i-l has stomach cancer and has to be fed through a tube into her intestines .... anyway, she had a call from the hospital today to explain in the event of power loss how to operate the feeder machine manually. They're obviously going through their lists doing the necessary. It was very reassuring!

Indeed, beauty and terror in one package.

Still over a day from predicted landfall, it's incredible.

;)

I know Q Health are putting a lot of work into ensuring everyone knows what they should do - its good to get some feedback on it :) The pure logistics of evacuating the hospitals are staggering, never mind the outreach patients. Hope your MiL copes ok and you all come through it unscathed :fingerscrossed:

I remember from Larry the worst bit of being down here was that when it gets near to crossing evrything at this end goes quiet as phones go down and everyone takes shelter. very eerie as we sit here wondering what os happening up there. Larry crossed in daylight too, this will be even more eerie as its at night. A lot of people will be thinking of you guys up there :)

I know, truly amazing. When a couple of us were playing with the models two weeks ago and started saying "This is gonna be a big one" I don't think we really thought it would end up this size. The predictions of the size at crossing were pretty spot on, I am very glad the models were wrong in one thing though - some of the originals had this system hitting Brisbane..........

Indeed, 2 more months of this, I'm unpacking nothing ...
