SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING - SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND
for DAMAGING WIND and HEAVY RAINFALL
For people in parts of the
Ipswich,
Scenic Rim and
Lockyer Valley Council Areas.
Issued at 6:50 pm Friday, 19 February 2016.
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 6:50 pm, a very dangerous thunderstorm was detected on weather radar near Rosevale and the area northwest of Cunninghams Gap. This thunderstorm is slow moving. The very dangerous thunderstorm is forecast to affect Mulgowie and the area south of Helidon by 7:20 pm and Aratula by 7:50 pm.
Damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding are likely.
130mm has fallen within the hour to 6.45pm at West Woodbine. 107mm has fallen in the hour to 6.45pm at Townson.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
The next warning is due to be issued by 7:50 pm.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at Australia's official weather forecasts & weather radar - Bureau of Meteorology or call 1300 659 219. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

Its very very slow moving but I reckon some of that rain ill hit Brisbane.

Seriously heavy rain out towards Gatton, Lockyer Valley, Ipswich - '130mm has fallen within the hour to 6.45pm at West Woodbine. 107mm has fallen in the hour to 6.45pm at Townson.' :eek:

Issued at 8:06 pm Friday, 19 February 2016.
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 8:05 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near the area west of Toogoolawah. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect the area northwest of Esk, Toogoolawah and Moore by 8:35 pm and Esk, the area west of Kilcoy and northern Lake Wivenhoe by 9:05 pm.
Damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding are likely.
In the past 30 minutes to 8pm 46mm has fallen at Buaraba and 45mm at Atkinson Dam. 156mm has been observed at West Woodbine in the past 3 hours, 99mm of which fell in 30 minutes.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.

We just had some pretty solid rain come down in the last hour, and a few flashes (though just one bang), though it didn't last too long and things seem eerily quiet now. It's like the rain came to take the wind along with it and then the two disappeared from sight... :)

The main body of the rain still hasn't reached the coast. Its incredibly slow movingand there are still some areas of very heavy rainfall to the west of Brisbane.

Issued at 8:19 pm Monday, 2 May 2016.
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 8:25 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Lake Manchester. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Brisbane CBD, Slacks Creek, Camp Hill, Upper Brookfield, Enoggera Reservoir and Enoggera by 8:55 pm and Cleveland, Dunwich, Peel Island, Manly, Wynnum and southern waters of Moreton Bay by 9:25 pm.
Damaging winds are possible with this storm.
