Very sad, big obits here on TV this morning, he was a great golfer, and very human, he played wonderful shots, and abysmal ones, often one after the other, but he could produce magical ones to get himself out of the trouble his last shot caused. A true champion, and great guy.

Gutted. What a player; he was my hero as a kid in Scotland. I often found the car parks as Seve sometimes did, but could never quite manage to escape as he did !

Cheers for the memories big man.

Very very sad. One of the nicest blokes out there I reckon.

The young pro at my brothers club managed to qualify for the Madrid Open in the 90's. He duly went over and was bricking it when he saw he was drawn with Seve for the first 2 days. Then out of the blue he gets a call the night before the tournament, it was Seve. Asked if he knew anyone in town to which our young pro mutters a reply in the negative. Seve tells him to stay put as he is sending a car.
A car arrives and he is taken to dinner with Seve. As well as buying him dinner, Seve offers advice an comfort for our young pro all alone. Obviously can't help him on course, but chatted and relaxed him congratulated good shots, commiserated bad.
Our young pro makes the cut but thats about it for the tourament he reckons he couldn't have a better 3 days.
RIP

I went with a group of friends in 1984 to St Andrews and saw him win the open.

He was always a pleasure to watch and a true epitome of the gentler side of golf.
