Default Seperation by distance.

Comes down to one thing in the end IMO. Finances.

Money can buy you the space to do anything, including Schooling the kids whilst you jet around the world.... maid or au pair can look after them for a couple of weeks.

I'm trying to think of circumstances, where money wouldnt solve this dilemma for the majority of people on this board. Cant think of many, Maybe someone close in hospice care is all I can come up with.

So over to you

Is there any circumstance where finance wouldnt solve the problem of separation from family by distance ?

Health? I mean if someone could afford the flights but had heart probs or other ailment that stopped them flying.

I guess health is the X factor in everything, down in melb recently Italian guy behind us was very loudly talking, about his reliative who left 78 milliion in his will but died at 60 something of Cancer.

If the people I am closest to were exactly 6 foot away - vertically..ie. my wife and kids.

(Other family members are 6 foot under and that is expected after 90 odd years so it creates no turmoil! I did not go back for my grandmother's funeral - there was no point and I would not have got back in time.)

But money is a great leveller. We could fly a lot more - but I don't think we would necessarily do it for the sake of it.

The youngest teen used to be one of those who sleep on planes, could sleep from london to singapore all curled up. Last week he takes off for a short flight to melb and his 6'2 legs wouldnt even fit in the jetstar seats He was right peed off, reckons he not going international now unless its business class

Maybe he could volunteer to do that evacuation help thing at time of booking.... Then you get a door seat. Probably only from 18 onwards for that.

Moral of this thread thusfar is really watch your health.

You don't need extra legroom! You're even littler than me.

Yup. Even if I had my own private airline there are members of my family I wouldn't bother to visit. Or have visit me.
