Securing a rental

Hi!
Can anyone tell me how long it usually takes to secure a rental? We will be in a holiday accomodation for 10 days when we arrive in Melbourne, and need to find, secure and move into a rental within this time frame. Is this POSSIBLE???

Generally speaking, I'd say no.

I had a rental for six weeks when I arrived, and it was just enough.

They like you to fill in silly paper forms, fax them, check references, etc. Then there is changing over services. That's on top of finding somewhere you actually like. And doing all the other things you need to do.

Get longer in temp accomodation.

Yes it is possible, we did that when we got here, booked a motel for a week and had found a house to rent and moved in a week later. When we moved to QLD we did the same too (mind you there are tons there to rent) - never been a problem at all. Good luck.
