Secret Harbour's on fire.....
 

..............well, nearly!

There's a big blaze in the Regional Park between Secret Harbour and Port Kennedy tonight.

Got some fantastic photos of the helicopters refueling at a lake and then dumping it all on the flames. The kids are out now with OH as the sky has just turned orange behind our house and when you jump on the trampoline you can see flames (and NO it's not from my thighs rubbing together in polyester :rofl: :p ).

Stay safe everyone and what a fabulous job the FESA guys and gals go :thumbup:

fire near us too, just over the back, 100mts from homes - not ours though, phew!

Love watching the water bombers, they get so low!!!

With all these fires locally there must be an arsonist about?

Hi Jules,

Just had a look, it's scary stuff the first pic was taken from the front of our house in Port Kennedy tea time the second taken only 20 mins ago the fire is down Port Kennedy area now, the Port Kennedy Bay estate has been closed so I'm hoping eveyone is staying safe down there. Bloody scary stuff:ohmy::unsure:

Should of added that the second pic was taken from the beach in Port Kennedy not opposite my house.

There were about 6 helicopters in the air at one point.

Bushfire threatens homes south of Perth

A bushFire is threatening homes south of Perth.

The blaze broke out at the southern end of Scientific Park in Port Kennedy and is headed towards Secret Harbour Boulevard.

The Fire and Emergency Services Authority is encouraging residents to decide whether to stay and defend their homes or leave now.

Nearby residents are urged to close their windows and turn off evaporative air conditioners.

Port Kennedy Drive is closed west of Warnbro Sound Avenue.

More than 100 firefighters and 50 appliances are fighting the blaze.

Kevin Archer from the Fire and Emergency Services Authority says residents in Port Kennedy and Secret Harbour should wait for instructions from authorities before leaving their homes.

"We've had evacuate homes around Pulsano Mews," he said.

"The residents are assisting us there in protecting their own homes and have evacuated that immediate area."

This really isnt funny - I got told that some years ago a helicopter was gathering up water and accidentally picked up a man too and dropped him on the fire. Maybe an urban myth??

My mum (streaks) took me down in the car at around 8 to the beach and we took some pictures. It was very scary and sad thinking about all the animals that have died because of this- I hope the others are alright
