Blindly we missed 95% of it down here, just a bit of rain. We are only 30 minutes from Ipswich but we hardly ever get the extreme weather they get.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for DAMAGING WIND, FLASH FLOODING and LARGE HAILSTONES For people in the Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett, Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Southeast Coast and parts of the Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Herbert and Lower Burdekin, Northwest and Maranoa and Warrego Forecast Districts. Issued at 1:05 pm Sunday, 11 December 2011. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, very heavy rainfall and flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Gulf Country district. Locations which may be affected include Burketown, Mornington Island and Westmoreland Station. SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING - SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND for DAMAGING WIND, FLASH FLOODING and LARGE HAILSTONES For people in the BRISBANE CITY, LOGAN CITY, IPSWICH CITY, REDLAND CITY and parts of the GOLD COAST CITY, LOCKYER VALLEY, MORETON BAY, SCENIC RIM, SOMERSET and North Stradbroke Island Council Areas. Issued at 2:14 pm Sunday, 11 December 2011. The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 2:20 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Laidley, Hatton Vale, Somerset Dam and Toogoolawah. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to northeast. They are forecast to affect Ipswich, Lake Manchester, northern Lake Wivenhoe and Dayboro by 2:50 pm and Brisbane CBD, Beenleigh, Logan City, Cleveland and Strathpine by 3:20 pm. Damaging winds, very heavy rainfall, flash flooding and large hailstones are likely. |

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Hervey Bay, Maryborough and Toolara Forestry. Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 6:15 pm. If severe thunderstorms develop in the Southeast Queensland area [east of Dalby from Rainbow Beach to Stanthorpe], a more detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning will be issued to people in this area. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 219. The Bureau and Emergency Management Queensland would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly. |
