Scoopon problem
Hi guys, just wondered if you could give me some advice regarding a scoopon purchase i made.
It was for a carpet cleaning service and its all going a bit tits up. They arranged to come one day, then on the morning they were supposed to come, i got a text message saying their driver had rung in sick. Although i didn't know the text was even from them at the time as i didn't recognise the number. It was only later when i emailed them that i realised who the text was from. I had arranged it for when my son was off school, i then explained when i wanted it done and they couldn't do it. Fair enough, but since they haven't been able to do it when i needed it done for i asked for a refund. However, having read the scoopon t's + C's it seems a refund is not an option. So i once again asked the carpet people to arrange a date when i could get my carpets cleaned. Their reply was to tell me as i had asked for a refund they wiped me from their system and could not help any further as they didn't know whether i'd had a refund from scoopon or not. Any idea where to go next? They have been quite blunt and i have explained that i'd like it sorting the easy way rather than the hard way. However if the choose to insist they won't clean my carpets, then consumer affairs can deal with the matter as this cowboy business really shouldn't be walking over people this way |
Re: Scoopon problem
i`d be chasing scoopon as in all fairness they probably still have your money having been approached by this kind of discounted internet service ourselves the payment stucture was
coupon provider gets customers money directly via credit card company providing the discounted service gets a percentage after 30 days and the rest on 90 days dependant on the number of coupons "cashed in" i have some simpathy with the carpet cleaning company when you ask for a refund as they well may not have been paid yet legally where you stand i confess to not been too sure youve paid for a service which hasnt been completed and therefore you should be refunded good luck regards steve ps as these are usually paid via a credit card it may be worth giving them a call |
Re: Scoopon problem
Thanks for that Steve, the company are from down your way too.
They have been absolutely disgraceful, right from the first email i recieved. I contacted them to arrange carpet cleaning and when it could be done, their first email came back short and sharp saying only these words, "well it won't be april" Full stop! Charming eh. I'd happily lose the $50 now just to keep them out of my house :) |
Re: Scoopon problem
Quite a few people have had problems with these internet purchases. My tip is to only purchase a coupon for a product, NOT a service, as you are easily ripped off.

Re: Scoopon problem
There are 2 things you should do:
1. Contact Scoopon and make them aware of the problems you have had. A colleague of mine had an issue with a Scoopon car service provider. Their customer service was excellent when she contacted them about the issue. 2. Speak to your credit card company and ask them to do a chargeback on your credit card. This is a refund of the amount you have been charged. This is perfectly within your rights as you have not received the product/service you have been charged for. They will ask if you have contacted the company who charged you and as long as you have spoken to Scoopon (assuming they have not given you a refund anyway), they will refund your card immediately and then chase Scopon for their money back. Good luck Charlene |

Good luck Charlene If the service is not available its not their problem. I was obviously un-happy with that and told them i was going to take it further. They then contacted the carpet cleaning people who have in turn said they are happy to honour the scoopon. BUT, there is no way they will enter my house now, they come across as the biggest cowboys ever. And the way they spoke to me from day one was shockingly bad. I'll try the credit card route i think. Cheers |
Re: Scoopon problem
A friend of mine recently had a similar problem with Tempt Pizza Feast, who said Scoopon were not authorised to handle their product, and they were not honouring the coupon.

Hahaha!!!! Not me. If it was mine, you could go around and sort them out.... Apparently they reversed their original decision and are now refunding her money.... |

Re: Scoopon problem
I had a Scoopon for a restaurant which closed down shortly after the Scoopon was sold...had no issues getting a refund from Scoopon. One thing you do have to be careful of though I'd suggest is to use the Scoopon a while before their expiry date for things like restaurants...otherwise you might find the place fully booked and not able to get a table last minute...then that would be a bit of a grey area in terms of refunds.
