School Sports Day - Uk
This week we have our sports day (secondary school) and two 'dangerous' events have been changed. The sack race has been replaced by the bean bag race and the three legged race has been replaced by, the skipping rope relay
Hard to believe and they kids think it's crazy.

Sports day here is just a joke these days. When my older lot were at lower school they only did a running & relay race, the rest was done as team sports so that it wasn't competitive At least when they got to middle school there were a few more races plus high jump, etc.
I'm really disappointed as my younger daughters first sports day has been canceled. They've decided that with 80+ children in the 4+ unit that it's to much to organise so they are just having a fun afternoon doing a mixture of sports which the parents aren't invited to

When OH's battalion got back from Afghanistan and had packed away the machine guns and mortars and whatever that they had been using everyday......
........they weren't allowed to put on a November 5th fireworks display for the families because of H&S!

A lot of schools are trying to think of alternatives to the 'traditional' format of a sport's day. Firstly because they don't want the less sporty children to feel inadequate and secondly because of 'Health and Safety' LIKE OMG THE WORLD HAS GONE STIR CRAZY!!!! Was so funny last year, we'd a Dad turn up, (his daughter doesn't live with him anymore, she lives with the mother) who was in the army, fully kitted out in his tracksuit/shellsuit (Classy) with a bottle of water and a towel, expecting us to have a 'parent's race' lol HILARIOUS! LOL

Also this Saturday my youngest son was in a footbal tournament 4 groups of 4 teams, we all presumed the winners from each group would play each other in a final. At the end we was told there should be no winners, everyone was a winner. They had worked so hard to win their group what was the point!

EXACTLY my ten year old boy does not find school easy at all but tries his very best at everything, which is good enough for me. He is however a good all round sportsman. Sports day is an absolute joke measuring water in a jug! balancing things on his head all in teams. Do understand though that there are some children who struggle with everything.
