Save water....wee in the shower?!
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-norfolk-29552557
University students are being urged to urinate in the shower in a bid to save water. The Go with the Flow campaign is the brainchild of students Debs Torr and Chris Dobson, from the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich. They want the university's 15,000 students to take their first wee of the day while having their morning shower. Mr Dobson, 20, said the idea could "save enough water to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool 26 times". The pair want those taking part to pledge their allegiance on Facebook and Twitter and have offered gift vouchers to the first people to join the challenge.  |
Re: Save water....wee in the shower?!
Wouldn't work for me. I like to wee first, then wash hands obviously, brush teeth, then go make a coffee and go back to bed, then shower. If I weed in the shower I would have to take toothbrush and coffee in with me. I can't see that working. How about you, Polly?

Re: Save water....wee in the shower?!
There is only one problem, the salts contained in urine accumulate and crystallise in the drain eventually causing blockage..!
|
Re: Save water....wee in the shower?!
But if that were true, wouldn't the loo also get blocked then? But it doesn't
|
Re: Save water....wee in the shower?!
The bore (size) of the pipe is the limiting factor. Plus you tend to throw lots of stuff down the loo to eliminate calcification. A good point all the same.

Re: Save water....wee in the shower?!
Oh I see. Yes other stuff for sure
But in the shower you would also be getting soap suds and shampooey water going down. Would that not impact on the crystals? |
Re: Save water....wee in the shower?!
Ha ha my daughter said she had joined an environmental group at UEA, will see if she tells us to do that.

Re: Save water....wee in the shower?!
"Based on an average flush costing 2p, campaigners say £7.30 per year, per person, could be saved if people spend their first morning penny in the shower"
2P or not 2P. That's the question. :D |

The shower water is rigged up to go out as grey water ( secluded acreage ), onto the lawn, we have the greenest lawn you can imagine, year round. I thought the shower gel etc would kill it but nope people ask us how we get it that green, usually I dare not say:lol: |

That's what being on tank water will do to you. |
Re: Save water....wee in the shower?!
I remember years ago, campaign in Brazil for similar - due to water shortages. Makes sense really although as the only female in my house, I'd have to have a chat with my two sons for directional issues whilst in the shower!
