Well the latest.
We've had a phone call from Fair Trading. Their opinion is that we're totally in the right and that the supplier has acted wrongly.
The've got all the paperwork, and their opinion is that the supplier has been stupid and doesn't really understand how to run a business properly.
They're on the phone to them now.

Good news that they will actually get involved. When we were being threatened with eviction from our rental they were only able to offer pretty general opinions. Good luck!

It would be less suicidal in business terms to admit defeat before tribunal... but some people are on a suicide mission in their life, regardless of what is the most sensible option and you can do nothing bar let them do what they gotta do...

you can take it back no worries...what do you think happens when people buy stuff and layby for christmas, you can take back even if you dont have the docket(if labels are still on) but you may not get the full price you paid, if the specific item happens to be on special when you return it

Usually pretty fast apparently. The way it works is that we go into a mediation all together and the evidence is presented all round.
I show the affidavits of people who witnessed some things, plus all our communication, backed up with info from the governing body of the service provider.
Then based on this, the mediator will give each party the likely outcome of the tribunal... so he or she will say to the guy I'm quibbling with that he's a clown and he won't win... and based on this, we come to an equally satisfactory agreement.
If we can't agree, say he won't give money back, then we go to tribunal where the law sorts it. This is all done on the same day. Then the tribunal will tell him to give me the money back and all will hopefully be well.
The FT website will record the decision for all to google so it would be smart to just hand the money back at the mediation part, or it would mean business suicide in a small community like this.
