I remember reading about the outrage in Australia that Americans should be upset by that blackface skit on Hey Hey...it's all in good fun right?? Now the shoe is on the other foot and I see the Aussies are all up in arms about it.

Seems we can dish it out but can't take it!

You've described Aussies to a tee. Some of the worst sports or losers around.

They are just redneck British (apart from all the other nationalities obviously).

Hit the nail on the head. And Aussies pride themselves on being able to laugh at themselves. What a joke they're the most thin-skinned bunch I've ever met. (Apart from Barry Humphries of course.)

GB had a good last Olympics because we have finally made some headway in believing that losing sucks.....
Tiger Woods is a bad loser, Muhammad Ali was a bad loser, Roger Federer is a bad loser.......Being the best should be applauded and it is high time that average or mediocre is seen for what it is.

Where the hell did that come from? He is the epitome of a gentleman sportsman. When was he a bad loser? (other than the fact that he is very bad at losing i.e. he keeps winning things)

He is 110 years out of date, OZ become an Independant country in 1901 and Aussies were no longer English then, many were Irish, scots and Welsh anyway. The term redneck is an American invention, Americans are the Rednecks.

My view - he was making a point he was free to make and the media see it as newsworthy - after all they can't be seen to be hiding negativity or anything that makes the nation look at itself critically ...and this will have some doing just that as there are rednecks around.

It's nonsense that Australians can't lose or be critical of themselves. Politicians often go on the defensive.
