Re: The road to freedom
Phase 2. 70% of the adult population vaxxed before we can impose restrictions on the non vaxxed? Surely the stick needs to come out before then given anyone can get a vaccine.
Phase 3. 80% before borders open. Please.
And McGowen says he will.still lockdown anyway.
And do we really need to rely on the advice from that mob out of Melbourne?

Eh? The UK has about the same daily death rate now as it did this time last year, give or take a few weeks. Last year there was no delta, vaccines, and restrictions. The UK has vaccinated its way out to this point. Let's see what winter brings. I hear Moderna has a new and improved booster coming for delta.

Certainly not going to change up here for a while. Queensland Health just issued an alert for some sites in Brisbane, and there may be more to come by the morning. Groundhog Day looms.....

Re: The road to freedom
Glad to hear you all came through it ok.
There was a discussion going on in the office tonight where I was saying surely its time to start looking at how many cases are "serious" rather than how many cases are "positive". There seems to be an obsession with just counting cases when in fact many people don't even require treatment, and - as in this case - wouldn't know they had it if they weren't tested. Not a popular view in Queensland though.

Bingo. Further common sense steps coming.

Re: The road to freedom
Thanks Ozzie. There's a few mental scars there, especially for my wife. Up until 3 days before released the rule was for those in the household who don't catch it, they need to do another 14 days on top just to make sure. NSW health changed that rule last week in the nick of time. Apparently where it was going through large families the whole household had been spending up to 50 days in isolation if the whole house didn't get it early or at all.
The vaccine will sort the hospitals out. Already the projected October ICU flood has peaked well short in NSW due to vaccine coverage.
The next thing we need to work on is those booster shots, given 50% of Australia is on Pfizer, with its short life span, we need to get those boosters running about 4-6 months out, otherwise we are in trouble.

That is why I chose to wait to get Moderna, and I was very grateful to be able to have a choice.
When the time comes I will roll up my sleeve for a covid booster, just like I do for flu vaccine. every. single. year. With luck it may even be Novavax. I quite fancy giving that a try.

I've already given the facts about the efficacy time period for the different vaccines. But whatever, continue posting your half-truths and pseudoscience: 80% will not be enough

4 people have a bit of a cough therefore cancel a domestic cricket fixture and throw The Ashes tour into further doubt. Which was already looking to be a visit from a England Second XI.
Seems like a proportional reaction to things.
Shesh.

Re: The road to freedom
On cricket, NSW cricket have mandated that all community adult cricket players must be vaccinated. That's one dose for under 40's and 2 doses for over 40's. The season here in Sydney has a delayed start but will kick off in late Oct early Nov. That trend on vaccination may spread to cricket in Queensland.
