RIP Onslow
Geoffrey Hughes, born February 2 1944, died July 27 2012
Geoffrey Hughes, who has died aged 68, was known for memorable television roles such as Eddie Yeats, the roly-poly Scouse binman in Coronation Street; the slobbish Onslow in Keeping Up Appearances; the ironically named Twiggy in The Royle Family; and the roguish Vernon Scripps in Heartbeat. Absolutely loved him in Keeping Up Appearances, so many family jokes have come from that programme! Thanks for the laughs Onslow  |

Great actor! Such a shame!
He did the voice of Paul McCartney in Yellow Submarine, which I didnt realise til today! |
Re: RIP Onslow
Met him once at a party in Ealing back in the early 90's. My neighbour was the props buyer on Keeping up Appearances. He was an absolute gentleman and very funny in real life too. Very sad indeed.

Re: RIP Onslow
A unique character actor who I believe never fully demonstrated his abilities. Super memories over many years of him. He was a one off & will be greatly missed.
