Default Reverse Birthdays - did you luck out?

I'm a February born, so I've switched from cold dark - and short - birthdays to full on bright summers. I love it!

How has the 'flip' affected everyone else?

My kids are pissed because their former summer birthdays are now winter. I'm a January so instead of going tobogganing we have a swim and a barbie.

Either way I'm a year older, so it's still shit.

The only reason I married an Aussie was so that I wuold get a holiday on my birthday every year so that is a bonus. Moving from Spring to Autumn - not much difference really.

DD has just had her 14th birthday- swimming pool and sleepover for 6 teens. Much easier than trying to find something to do in the cold dark, wet UK each year. Only downside is that some friends were on holidays, but it meant that there were fewer to cater for and we'll have them over individually when they get back.
OH and my birthdays are now in winter, but I'm going back to the UK in july to celebrate (?) my 50th with the family and friends I left behind, so it'll still be summer!

My middle child has his birthday on Christmas Eve. When we were moving out here I mentioned to him how weird it would be for it to be in the summer.

He said 'will it still be on Christmas Eve though?'

Awww you might think - however he was 15 at the time, the dozy wazzock

Miy birthday is 5th November -could never get dressed up, always had to wear old clothes when we went out to a bonfire and fireworks (and it was cold and usually rained!)
Now it's spring and the weather is great!

My birthday is still on Christmas eve too.

Kind of sucks, doesn't really matter what country you're in either! I feel for your son. It never bothered me much when I was younger but I find it annoys me now that I'm older.

It's difficult to have any sort of celebration when everything shuts down early on Christmas eve and most people are with their families. Plus, as a mom I spend most of my birthday getting ready for Christmas so usually am shopping, wrapping, sorting out food etc. I really should just pretend my birthday is some other day!

I always think its a bit rough on people having birthdays so close to Christmas. I agree you should award yourself another birthday, although don't add on extra years or that could be scary! Maybe have it half way through the year 24th June - a happy unbirthday!

My birthday is in June, so I went from summer there to winter here. However, winter here is like a good summer there, so no change really - just less likely to have rain!

My birthday in August, only difference now is that it is guaranteed to be warm & highly unlikely to rain, so arranging outdoor parties is easy!

One son & OH have Jan birthdays so they have swapped cold rain for warm rain!

I'm August too... I don't mind being a winter birthday instead of the now Summer... was quite nice to get all dressed up and do my hair/makeup without a torrent of perspiration running down my face!

Just joking folks, I know it can hit the low 20's!

To be honest, he loves it!

We've always made a point of him never ever ever getting a joint birthday and Christmas present and he's always said that it feels that his birthday goes on for several days.

I felt more for his best friend who had a birthday on New Years Day

I always loved it as a kid actually. Like your son I usually asked for a big combined birthday/christmas present. My parents always felt bad about me just getting the one present (plus a sucky birthday) that I always got heaps of presents.

It wasn't until after I turned 18 (drinking age) that I realized it sucked not being able to go out with your friends on your birthday. It's worse now that I've got my own family because the day just seems totally lost to Christmas.

Hopefully he'll keep his enthusiam for his birthday as he gets older!

It might be different as you're female and are expected to do all the work on Christmas Day, whereas he's male and will lounge around no matter what day of the year it is
