Default RED BACKS in the bl**dy sunken lights

HI

We have red backs in the sunken ceiling lights just found our second lot in month or so.

Where do you stand with your rental people can we ask for pest spray???

So far only found 4 but they are obviously there and there were two so probably done the business already.

Apparently rental agents are immune to pest spray.

Wouldn't be suprised we have been on months trying to get lawn sorted so will probably be bitten to death before they sorted lights.

QLD Tenant/Landlord rules state:
The Residential Tenancies Act 1994 does not make a specific reference to pest control.

Tenancy Agreements prepared by industry organisations may include a statement in the special terms of the tenancy agreement similar to the following:

"The tenant must keep the premises free from pests and vermin"
Check your agreement, then ask the agent nicely if anything can be done

Otherwise get a Spider Control Surface spray for the areas they appear in.

I pay about $170 for an annual pest spray, inside and out. But i've never seen them do the ceilings.
Fumigation is a different matter altogether, not a common occurence from my experience.

In some States it is compulsory for the Landlord to have a pest spray done every 12 months, but not every State. (and QLD isn't one of them)
That is why you hear some people getting the spray done on request, normally it is due or overdue by law anyway

I tend to use a spider surface spray around the upstairs ceiling edges every 6 months or so, just in case.

Wouldn't mind shelling out the 175$ for my own house and if we were staying. Do gekko's eat red backs?

Well I cracked...

Just had the rental inspection and told her about the red backs in the lights so hopefully they are history. As she said better get the place sprayed... .
