recommend me a front loader washing machine

I'm thinking, maybe a 6.5kg bosch?

What should I be looking for in a new machine ? any tips

That sounds expensive (to me) - I can recommend a cheapo. Samsung WF77 @ 7 kg, cold fill only. $600.00. They do several models, including ones with hot fill as well.

We've got a bosch, was about $600 I think, it's been fine since march 2006. Quiet too. Hot fill is a waste of time if I remember as they only use it on very hot (boil) wash.

I got directions to the laundry from the wife and the model is, EWF 1080

We've got a Bosch too, works well so far (touch wood).

You're in Brissie? Call Winning Appliances: they often have ex-demo, ex-display Bosches sold with full warranty for a discount: http://www.winningappliances.com.au/contactus

Another happy Bosch customer, the Maxx Lifestyle 6.5 kg, 1200 rpm model. Spin is a bit noisy, but it's got a great variety of programmes. Turned out to be a much better and cheaper performer than Miele.

I started a thread on this one 2 years ago and infact, was quite happy to consider a top loader if the quality was there.

We observed the current advice at the time and got a white, BOSCH front loader. We paid more than 600 but not much more - (and if you have to ask, or remember, then you can't afford it). We like it as it has a 15 min 'express' cycle which is great for shirts etc. And it's like, German or something. Kudos in the neighbourhood.

Friends of ours have a SWEDISH front loader and very nice it is too with a funny fascia over the door. Which puts paid to the usual suggestion that all Aussies given the chance will all opt for a top loader made by Holden and are brainwashed. Or something.

Ours is the cheaper 1000rpm one. So it looks like we got Top-Trumped. I'll confine myself to the house for several weeks until the chat dies down and everyone has forgotten.

Maybe you got the better bargain. After all, in this climate, 1200 rpm is not essential, so you're saving the environment and your pocket:). Will you allow yourself out of the house now?:sneaky:

We previously had a front loader, hated it, but due to water and electricity price increases:eek: we went front loader again and really impressed.

LG Direct Drive motor, much quieter than normal front loaders, except on 1200spin. At end of wash it untangles the clothes, can do a 7kg cotton load in just over an hour, seems really gentle on clothes compared to the last machine. 10 year motor warranty and 2 year on the rest, just under $700. We do use the 1200 spin in this climate, in summer its often wet and humid and nothing dries so very useful.

Had two Bosch machines in the UK and they were OK but not perfect.
I now have a Miele and it's better. After 6 years it's still as smooth and never had a problem. You wouldn't believe the standard of the packaging and stabiliser for transporting it. They are designed to last over 20 years.
Cheap washing machines are false economies.

I used to have a Bosch and didn't like it. I now have a 10kg LG washer/dryer. THe door on it is huge so you can get a doona in and out very easily. I can also stick a load of school uniforms in when I go to bed and in the morning, they're washed and dried and ready to wear with minimal ironing.

We initially bought a Miele as I liked the idea of fantastic service for 20 years, as life's too short for researching washing machines;). But, we got the dud Miele. The technicians are so used to believing their machines to be perfect, that they thought that I wasn't operating it properly:rolleyes:. Eventually the senior technician came and saw it and realised it was a dodgy Miele. They gave me a replacement, but its performance just wasn't good enough. They took it away, gave us a refund and we bought the Bosch. I know that it won't last as long, but there was no point having something that lasted for 20 years but messed up every wash.

No need for a dryer in Perth's climate.
