It's not a possum is it?? They can be very vocal at times.
We have one who thinks our shed is his/her territory. When I go outside at night and put the light on, that is exactly the noise it makes: ACK ACK ACK ACK ACK GRRRRRR. It can be very loud.

You lot are spoilt. Wish we had some (ANY) natural wildlife sounds round here(apart from cicadas in summer). Even the crows don't come any more..

We have at least 3 or 4 in the garden and they are even more annoying than the most annoying bird. And they eat the plants and trees!

During the day, all times of the day, and no, we've fruitbats near us and they sound GOD AWFUL, this bird however, is soooo slight in volume, which makes it EVEN MORE ANNOYING!!! ARGHHHHH lol
(It's a REALLLLLLLY faint 'creaky' sound that this bird makes, which is, I think, what makes it even more annoying!!!)
