Nice idea Dean. They're usually pretty well written. Sadly I don't have any copies left after I donated them to the dentist surgery the other week.

Really? Don't know why. Got one earlier. Try again. I've probably ticked some box or something.

Scaffolding

by Seamus Heaney

Masons, when they start upon a building,
Are careful to test out the scaffolding;

Make sure that planks won’t slip at busy points,
Secure all ladders, tighten bolted joints.

And yet all this comes down when the job’s done
Showing off walls of sure and solid stone.

So if, my dear, there sometimes seem to be
Old bridges breaking between you and me

Never fear. We may let the scaffolds fall
Confident that we have built our wall.

Digging The Foundations of Love:

When first we met we started to dig the foundations of love,
The warmth of your eyes broke through the crust of my heart,
The touch of your hand deepened the hole into my soul,
Your thoughtful deeds became the concrete upon which our love would grow,
And now, now that we are to be joined together, forever,
Your words will bury you.
Be warned.

Love the Seamus Heaney - presume he wrote that for his wife... Not sure I can do him though considering how his she died but I'll keep it in the file, thanks.
