QLD ladies please help
 

I am packing ready to move to QLD in Jan. I know it gets jolly hot over there. Thing is, how cold does it get .... ? Is there ever an occassion when I could wear my knee high boots f'rinstance? (no salacious replies please, I love my boots and do not want to part company). Also, am assuming no need for my thick woolly jumpers...... ;)

Any recommendations on clothes that I should get here and bring over, rather than buy in Oz?

Hi

We were over on the Gold Coast in August, doing our validation trip.
On a couple of nights I would think a woolly jumper would have come
in very handy....it was really cold. We are also moving in January and
I'm taking everything, though I'm hoping not to have to wear jumpers
straight away!!!

Definetly take the boots, if you are anything like me you can never throw away your favourite shoes, they might come in useful in the winter. I have an Auntie in QLD and when I go over I bring lots of t shirts and summer tops from Next and M and S, she seems to think the quality is better than she can get over there. Hope I have been some help.

I agree with this, we were also on the GC in August andd found some of the evenings very chilly!!!! Take the jumpers and the boots, saw people wearing boots in August too.... C x

Definitely bring the lot! You won't get to wear them very often, but you'll be glad to have them when the occasion arises. Knee high boots are all the rage over here at the moment (winter fashion) but will be going out soon as the temperature rises. I bought mine with me and I've worn them about 3 times in total! They'll last me years!!!

As for wooly jumpers, if they are not too chunky you'll get heaps of wear out of them. Really thick ones will probably be worn once or twice a year maybe. So I guess it only makes sense to pack your favourite ones....

I tried to wear mine.. put them on in the morning when its chilly, and then regret it by lunchtime when the temperature is back up to 20 degrees!

I would say bring your boots and some of your jumpers but not all of them!

For the past couple of months the evenings/nights have been very chilly on the Gold Coast and I often wish I had brought some of my jumpers!

It's not so much the actual temperature, but the temperature drop which makes you cold too.
The sun goes down very quickly, so you can go from a very warm 35 right down to a 20 in minutes, which really does make me shiver. Definitely take the boots and your good jumpers. If you don't love them, don't take them.

once you become acclimatised you'll be thankful for those warmer clothes as the temp changes

I'd have been thankfull for them even before I got acclimatised. It's freezing some nights (and days too)

It can be really cold first thing in the morning in the winter and some evenings can be a bit chill. Remember the houses here are built to keep cool, not to stay warm and you'll find that it's often warmer outside the house than inside.

I used to laugh at the thought of my Mother in Law taking a hot water bottle to bed at night (she lived in Mackay) but having spent a winter here (Brissy) I now understand!!
