Punch????

Hi guys....are there any serious (and good!) entertainers out there?????

I'm having a house party next month for 40 girlfriends.....Does anyone know of a good (alcoholic) punch I can do? Could you be kind enough to post the recipes (with releveant quantities)

Also, has anyone good ideas for finger food/pickies....without spending a fortune? Any other hints/tips to make the night a success????

Any info would be fab

wannabe x

PS - I've searched the internet for punch recipes and either find......
* ingredients i've never heard of
* no quantities included - may as well get a bottle of vodka and insert straw!
* Recipes that need soooo much messing around, I really couldn't be bothered.

Forget the punch mate, hardly anyone likes it and most end up chucking it into the potplants when no-one is looking. The key to a good house party is to get everyone pissed and good music. Don't worry too much about the food, people will eat anything when they're drunk and the last thing you want to be doing is faffing around in the kitchen with nibbles and missing all the fun. My advice would be to whip up some big jugs of cocktails instead of punch (I find vodka based is best so you can make them really strong without people knowing ). Get some vodka jelly shots on the go as well, always a winner. Rent a karaoke machine. Have a theme - (belated) Christmas in July maybe?

the usual thing for a party in oz is to tell everyone to 'bring a plate' -not an empty one obviously but a plate of nibblies. no one ever minds doing that and it makes it much easier on the host! have fun

Have you ever heard of a thing called BUCKIE?

Its a lovely un-assuming fortified wine with a lovely bouquet.
Your guests will love it;)

Peepster - good idea about renting entertainment, I've booked a Jukebox - it has a kareoke attachment....so that should keep us occupied!

Have just found a recipe for 'sex on the beach'

3 shots cranberry juice
3 shots orange juice or pineapple juice
1 shot peach schnapps
1 shot vodka
ice
Orange slice

Sounds good - yes??????

Just a thought tho - what's the difference between a punch and cocktail????? Any ideas?

AKA Tramp Fuel!

Having said that, I really liked it, and it worked as a good bonding material between me and my friend and some random Glaswegians on a shared taxi ride to Perth (Scotland, not WA). Possibly only good for sharing with people you are never going to meet again! ;)

Re: Punch????

Seriously, try these http://www.wildhibiscus.com/shop/index.html - stick them in champagne/cava/sparkling wine - good talking point and very nice too!

As for finger food, if you can get them, try bhajis or spring rolls - stick them in the oven and them you can eat them hot or cold, veggie too, so everyone`s happy.

Have fun!

In Scotland it was ElDorado - a beautiful fortified wine

depending on the size of the bowl, it could double as a pool.
What a party that would be:)

Just a thought but if you post a request like this in the recipe thread that is in The Lounge, you'll get loads and loads of international, new or old favourite recipes.
