If they hit rock it's harder for them to make the hole. Your waste dirt (sand & rock) has to go somewhere and they have to pay a fee to the tip, so it's passed on to you. And you need fill around the pool after it's been installed so it doesn't shift. The installer will show you how to compact it (or they can come out to do it but it costs more. We did our own). We bought ours from Sapphire in Joondalup but most of the pool companies are affiliated anyway. So long as they're SPASA registered you should be ok. It's really just a matter of what shape/size you want and who has it. |

I'm not sure the council have much say in it. It is a new State law that came into effect on Jan 1st, where even paddling pools require it. It's dumb when you consider that you could have a pond in your garden that doesn't require a fence

Just keep it clean and test the water regularly. |

Most common "hidden extra' is when they find rock.. Can add thousands to the price... Some areas are well known for being rocky, it depends where you live... A REPUTEABLE and local pool company should have a good idea whether there may be rock... But I don't think any of them don't have a rock clause..
Fencing can be expensive, however if you have a Handy "man" then it's DIYable... Landscaping is a major cost... What are you going to surround the pool with? grass? Astros type turf? liquid limestone? Pavers? |

Although I wouldn't be without my pool, it has been very expensive to maintain- mainly as each year it has needed something new doing- filter, chlorinator, pump, polaris. Now it looks as though the concrete is aging and needs repainting. I've worked out it has cost me about $200 per swim!!
You shouldn't have the problems with a new pool though. This one was over 12 years old. |
