As a slight aside, how come there's never any abos, spicks, wops or gooks in Neighbours?

It's funny how people in soaps never make racist comments either.

Nah, back in the day I remember an Asian girl in home & away getting called a 'power point'. Doesn't make any sense until you get here!

Didn't read this article but saw one somewhere else where it said that Cawston (sp) was based on Slough. So, whilst I get that there may not be an 'non anglo saxon' in any of the villages, I'd have thought he'd have put some in the town scenes. To fire or suspend him for this seems bloody silly. It's not like the rest of it is factual. It defeats me why anyone would live in these villages, they must know they're about to die and that there's only one Detective covering the whole area, even if he does do a damn fine job.

Taken from the Radio Times article and copied by most newspapers:- "True-May, the program's co-creator who has been with it since day one, said: "We just don't have ethnic minorities involved. Because it wouldn't be the English village with them. It just wouldn't work.
"Suddenly we might be in Slough. Ironically, Causton (one of the main centres of population in the show) is supposed to be Slough. And if you went into Slough you wouldn't see a white face there."
