Re: Pokemon Go
We were at Hillarys yesterday afternoon and probably 1/2 of the people there had their faces pointed down looking for Pokémon. F'ing ridiculous.

and just because they are head down in a phone doesn't mean they were all capturing pokemon.

Lots of Pokemon in the area, particularly on the south side :

My eldest works at Grill'd at Hillarys. They have had to roster extra staff at weekends to cope with the increased trade. Apparently all down to Pokemon Go!

You can see their thought, spend less than a $1 for half an hour and get 20-50% more customers (sometimes many more). If you give free wifi they will sit there catching pokemon in comfort, buying your food/drink.
Pokemon Go Is Driving Insane Amounts of Sales at Small, Local Businesses. Here's How It Works | Inc.com
You can tailor it to school kicking out time, weekends, or when you are usually quiet etc.
I'm sure there are bars doing similar for older players.
Not sure if Nintendo will get billions out of this, but if I'd had their shares before this launched, I would have been happy (was 13800, up to 31770).

Highways in Victoria have replaced dont drink/drug and drive flash signs with dont drive and pokemon.
One of the Hit and run deaths in melb last week was a girl out with a friend playing pokemon, guy in stolen car hit her, dragged for 70 metres.
She was one of 2 Young women wandering round melb at 2.30 am, looking for pokemon, would have thought the high chance of rape or assault would put most women off.
Hideously dangerous.

There are dozens of people down at very dark expansive Coburg Lake park right now as I type..... thats at 11.10pm at night including groups of young women.
My oldest daughter actually phoned the council today, complaining about all the 20 plus blokes hanging around the Childrens playground..... allegedly playing pokemon.

Re: Pokemon Go
Pokemon Go is probably the most boring popular game I've recently encountered. It got an ugly boring interface/graphic design.

Re: Pokemon Go
I can remember my late teens and early twenties as an absolute riot of people, fun, travel, romances, wild nights out where you would laugh till your sides split, wasn't even drinking never had the money it was just the best time. I never even owned a TV from 15 till 23.
Now kids that age have their faces shoved in their screen 24/7, watching life through a phone, and '1583 'friends' most of whom they met once. and probably wouldn't recognize in the street.
Its sounds like a shite life!! compared to my experience of life at that age.
But hands down absolute shocking, in collins lane melbourne, saw couple sit down with a baby young enough to need feeding in a high chair and put a ipad in front of her!! Probably 9 months old, could not feed herself but randomly poking at the screen.
Meat free monday, ummm how about phone free friday, that would freak the world out
