Default Pitbulls should be banned.

Yet another person has been savagely attacked by these revolting creatures.

When is someone in authority going to have the sense to ban people from keeping them?

There are plenty of other good dog breeds to keep as pets and I cannot think of one good reason why someone would want to keep this savage breed.

They weren't pit bulls, they were American Staffys. As happens in almost all dog attack cases it's the owner, not the dogs. The owners were fined previously for not having the dogs registered. Why anyone would want to keep 3 of these dogs is another thing, they were in the pack mind set when they escaped and this poor bloke was on the receiving end. I don't disagree with the dogs being destroyed in this instance but to ban all dogs of a certain breed is not actully going to solve the problem. Have a test for people to qualify owning dogs, that would help more.

Pitbulls are involved in the majority of dog attacks/deaths.

Really, they are always in the press as the attackers but most press reports don't actually check these sort of details before publishing

Yes. I am an unequivocal dog lover. Met many many very sweet pit bulls.
But the statistics speak for themselves. And YES far too often it is the owner not the dog. Since unsavory characters seem to be drawn to
aggressive breeds, and we cant control the owners then controls on questionable breeds are appropriate.

Same with guns but we ban guns and require licenses.

Is this in relation to the UK pensioner? If so the breed of dog hasn't been announced yet, In any case pitbulls and American Staffies are both banned in the UK.

And their owners are 10 times more likely to have criminal records. So we're back to owners & how they treat their animals

Lol and me, can't speak for Delinquent Deb though, suffice to say our savage beast is currently curled up next to her being spoon fed yoghurt because he wolfed the left over curry & she thought he'd burned his tongue. Spoiled rotten

Are they? I've been bitten by a golden retriever and a German shepherd, but never by a put bull. In 100% of dog attacks on me the breed was not a pit bull. Therefore by my research no pit bulls are involved in dog attacks/deaths.

I raised this issue because of the latest attack on a man in Sydney yesterday. This breed of dog is bred for fighting and has no place in civilised society imo.

Make it the law to have all dogs de-sexed when they are pups unless you are a licensed breeder.

Then people could still have their "companion" animal without it's progeny further increasing the number of 'domestic' dogs and the nuisance and danger that they cause.
