The Pig Iron Lady

Ok... Couldnt find the original thread.....

Just finished watching it....

Shaken by the strength of my feelings....

Almost Blown away by Meryl Streep... Although she didnt quite get the menace in the tone of voice right...

Couldnt really feel sorry for the sad, demented, lonely old lady..... Although I did try

At the end of the day there wasnt much depth... So many issues uncovered.. So much glossed over... Cartoon strip/chewing gum coverage of life shattering events and politics that shaped a nation... Into the devils own insignia....

She "wasn't right" in so very many ways...

A great woman and leader. One of the finest prime ministers your nation has ever had.

I haven't seen the move and don't intend to.

Oooops.... Sorry Boss... Its sunday... I need a break from quilting... And I'm BORED!!! Evidenced by the fact I watched the movie....

Yup.. A Great Leader, a very clever politician... I have to admit she did some good for the country.... In some areas..... U forrunately she was on the wrong side... And I didnt agree with her politics or the great divide that took place as a result of them... I had glossed over myself a lot of the threat she lived under... We all lived under ...with regards to the IRA.....

But she did a lot of harm.. Irreparable damage... That we are still paying for now... Not least of which was to turn the Labour Party in to a bunch of right wing yuppie twats.....

The idea of her escaping her watch and trotting off to buy a pint of milk was frankly hilarious.... But that bit also showed her being "lost" in the new world she had created.... How the "me" culture adversely affects little old ladies day to day in the UK.... Its a world she wouldnt recognise...

She's a senile old hag. If you were one of the "haves" that benefited from her ludicrous polices - well done. Your support an admiration for her is understandable. If you were one of the tens of thousands ruined by her- I'm with you and and despise that mad cow. Can't bring myself to see that film because I may throw something at the screen.

I thought John Smith began that, which was quickly accelerated by Tony Blair.

Now some would argue thatJohn Smith was the best prime minister we never had.....

As for Bliar and his cronies..Pah!!!.. at least Thatcher was honest about her politics...

Its odd... delusional people sometimes believe they are historical figures... Marie Antoinette and Napolean Bonepart being frequent flyers.. this delusional lady was a historical figure.... go figure..

Wonder whether they served Hamburgers to Regan and Thatcher ... both gone down the same route... both equally "likeable"

NO WAY

I worked in the health service while she was in power, and she did all she could to ruin it, it has NEVER recovered

Many, many Poms (maybe even a majority) think the same as I do about Thatcher, so 'an international perspective' is irrelevant.

Another thing the UK can afford in its present form - the NHS, and I guess she knew that.

As our visitors from the UK said when they were here recently, 'we're spending GBP100 billion on the NHS, but we sure as shit ain't getting GBP100 billion in value!'

There is no hell.

She achieved what she set out to achieve - smashing socialism and the union movement in the UK. All Brits should thank their lucky stars that she did.

Well done Mrs T!
