Phew wot a scorcher ...
Get your barbie ready – we're in for a sizzler
After two summers of sodden misery, Britain can look forward to a hot dry summer this year, the Met Office said yesterday in an unusually confident long-range forecast. Announcing that it was "odds-on for a barbecue summer", the Met Office's chief meteorologist, Ewen McCallum, said that the period from June to August was likely to see prolonged spells of hot weather, some when temperatures would be above 30 Celsius or 86 Fahrenheit – something that happened in 2008 on one day only.

I know loads of you took advantage of the cheap airfares - looks like it'll be a good one. Be careful though, later on in that article it advises, ""But if we're right, there will be several episodes when the temperature will go above 30 Celsius, and from the health point of view, once we go above temperatures of around 33 Celsius, which is getting close to the 90s Fahrenheit, then we do have issues with health." 33! LOL! It was about 0.4 degrees below 50F here last new year's eve.

Hopefully I will catch the tail end of the "bbq summer" when I get home in September.

Tbh i prefer the later 20's - more comfy for me (i know Brisbane wasn't a great choice weather wise ). Saying that, late 20's feels colder here than it does back home.

I hope it's true. I'm returning to the UK next week and the only thing I'm going to miss is the weather. Long summer nights sitting outside in a pub garden, bliss, can't wait, Looks like I am returning at the right time!

I miss that too, i don't sit outside when it gets dark here - too many insects for me. Just like 'I am Legend' at night time here

It is, but we wanted to buy a house this year, so we had to compromise! Tough luck i suppose.

I dont know if I will ever be able to go back, I have this unexplainble fear of flying that has got progressively worse. My last flight in Dec was 1 hours of sheer terror. It was a good calm flight as far as the flying was concerned but for me it was hell, so much so that we are now driving to Melbourne for sons passing out parade LOL. (Live North of Sydney)

33 degress in UK houses and UK towns will be horrid. I'm in the UK for 10 days for my sister's wedding nad I hop it's much cooler for those 10 days!!!
It's strange- I think you have to take off about 6 degrees to get comparable temps- so 33 in the UK feels kind of like 39 in Oz, to me anyway
