You have obviously never visited Perth, cos if you had you would know that 2-3 hours driving north/east/south of Perth would take you to 3 completely different locales.
OK its not as flash as getting on a plane and no the languages arent different, but the scenery is and the attitudes are, and thats what "travel" is about isnt it?
As I've said before (many times) the attractions of Perth aren't as obvious as other cities, its more subtle than that, but if you take the time to really look......

Good thing about VIC is that 3 hrs might bring you to a snow field, or the High Country.
