Patak's sauces - Are they REALLY made in the UK? - My curry still tastes inferior?

I was both surprised and pleased to find Patak's products in Coles. It says it's made in the UK and it looks the same. Is there something wrong with Australian rice and / or Australian chicken. Why does it not taste like a proper Pommie curry?

Because by definition, you're in Australia. ???

I cheat with Pataks and have no issues with the taste whatsoever. I think you're just weird.

I use Patak's all the time too and never have a problem. Add fresh veggies (tomatoes, peppers, onions for a good Madras, spinach & chick peas works really well too)....

Chuck a bit of fresh coriander in at the last minute . . . taste sensation.

A little natural yogurt swirled on the top with coriander...

Make sure you get the paste, not the sauce.

Definitely add coriander - that's a must. I also add a few cloves, bay leaves, curry leaves, cardamon pods and coriander seeds (fry in ghee for 5 minutes for aromatic infusion). Try a quick stir of cream at the end as well - that yums it up nicely.

Only Poms could get excited by packaged curry sauce.

The freeze-dried, pre-packed, pre-prepared, frozen food nation.

Excited? What gives you that idea?

Pre-packed? I've not been to South Africa... you mean you don't have pre-packed food over there? Awesome.

Curry paste is just a handy labour saving device. It takes yonks (and would be very pricey due to all the herbs) to prepare it yourself.

Ever had a troll vindaloo?

This thread.

I was 30 when I left SA - I had never cooked a meal. Ever.

If you want to start name calling then carry on.

I am extremely immature, and therefore very good at responding.

Your call.
